Appearance
The German cockroach is one of the smaller species, ½ inch when full grown. It is light brown with a pair of parallel brown bars between the head and front of the wings. This roach prefers high relative humidity and warmth and is a significant problem in a kitchen or bathroom.
The American cockroach is one of the largest and may grow to 1 ½ inches in length. It is reddish-brown or mahogany with light markings on top of the thorax (body section with wings and legs). This roach prefers damp areas such as basements, sewage systems, around pipes and drainage systems.
The Brown-Banded cockroach is slightly under ½ inch and is straw brown in color. Two light brownish bands are located on the wings and abdomen of the adult cockroach. This roach prefers a drier environment and can be found in ceilings, light fixtures, furniture and appliances. They especially like televisions!

Preventing Cockroaches
Proper home sanitation is a prerequisite for preventing cockroach infestations. Do not allow unwashed dishes, food particles, uncovered pet food or spilled liquids to remain out in the open.

Eliminate all potential hiding and breeding places such as boxes, newspapers, rags or similar items
